Early in October I spoke with a woman who was trying to submit a press release. I often chat with folks and coach them on the best way to get information into one of our papers.
Alaya Ketani, is a board certified hypnotherapist, also a life coach that works with biofeedback and somatic systems. Basically what that means is she monitors physical reactions while you are under her spell. Ketani practices her Heart of Light Empowering Hypnotherapy in Ashland and in Grants Pass and will start seeing clients at The Synergy Center in Bandon toward the end of October and I will see her in Bandon.
I have practiced self-hypnosis sitting in the dentist's chair and talking myself into sleep. Starting at the top of my head and working my way down to my toes focusing on the actual process of relaxing muscles.
Years ago at the Magic Castle in Los Angeles, I thought it was part of the castle's show, I saw hypnotized folks cluck like chickens. My son's grandfather, who was a local dentist, offered hypnotherapy.
It seems that Sleep or Healing Temples were around in Ancient Egypt possibly as far back as 4000 BC. Kind of like Chinese herbal healing; both have been around long enough to withstood the test of time.
Am I receptive? Yes, I think that's a big part of it. A little worried? Yes, what kind of mind-muckery am I in for? Excited? Yes, what's the worst thing that can happen? I can't imagine Ketani could stay in practice if her suggestions weren't positive.
I wonder what method she will use to get me into a trance? Check back in a couple weeks.
By the way, I don't have any serious issues I am asking her to help with; just to take better care of myself.
